Alcohol Ink on Paper

Artist Comments

This painting is done with alcohol and ink, which is a challenging medium.  The "paper" is really closer to plastic so that the alcohol stays on the surface, instead of soaking in. The ink comes in many colors and can be mixed to make even more. Making the pictures in this medium takes several different techniques. I use brushes, straws, and even gravity to make the inks do what I want them to.  It is very exacting work. The ink does not "set" as paint does. A stray drop of alcohol will make your inks run and ruin hours of work.
